Upon closing FM Personal I get the following dialog box:
Automatic backup aborted. Portfolio in the backup directory is currently open.
Any suggestions for a fix, or is it an operator error?

Hi johnvk,
It sounds like you have a portfolio open from your 'autoback' folder. This is not a good way to work, as the autoback folder is for keeping backups of your regular data files. For help on this issue, and how to fix it, please read: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq_ ... _inuse.php

This procedure is a bit labor intensive since I have more than 400 investments in autoback. Changing the file name and then saving them individually in a different location is a "job". Has to be an easier way. How about just backing up to another folder, eg autobacknew, and then continuing to use that folder as the backup directory? Does this solve anything? Any other suggestions? So, all of your investments are open from the autoback folder? Is the portfolio file also located in the autoback folder? Maybe you just have the wrong portfolio file (*.mm4) open? Yes, you could do your suggestion, that would work. Just change the autoback folder to something different. You do this in Fund Manager under "Options / Preferences... / Data". You might also be able to make a copy of your autoback folder, and rename it, and then re-open your portfolio file from this copied/renamed folder. If all your data files are located in the same folder this would work also.

The last suggestion is what I did. Copied "Autoback" to another folder, renamed it "Data" and opened the *.mm4 file from "Data". Confirmed that "Autoback" was the backup folder and exited FM. Backup worked properly. No more problems!! Thanks for the assist. John
