some prices from tomorrow?

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby tommcg » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:46 pm

Doing a price retrieve tonight at 8:30pm central (9:30pm eastern), using the default yahoo quote server, FM is recording some prices dated tomorrow (2/1/11) instead of today (1/31/11) for some but not all of my investments. Examples include ANAGX where http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ANAGX shows 8.35 closing price on 1/31 but http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=ANAGX+Historical+Prices shows a 1/31/11 entry for 8.36 which doesn't agree. FM appears to be pulling the 8.36 price (which is from historical page even though I'm doing "price retrieve" instead of "historical prices"), but where is FM coming up with a price date of 2/1/11 which is tomorrow? I don't see this on either of the Yahoo pages. My default quote server is "Yahoo" and default historical quote server is "Yahoo (Historical)".

Other symbols with same problem: AGDAX, ETHSX, EAEAX, ETMGX.

Is this just some yahoo quote server weirdness? Anyone else see prices fetched from the future? Hmmm, maybe this is a new feature? :)

Hi tommcg,

I see the same issue. It is a Yahoo problem. When retrieving from Yahoo, Fund Manager uses the information that you get when you click on "Download Data" on the right side of any quote summary page. That downloads a .CSV file with a price, and also a date. The date is showing up for 2/1/2011. Hopefully Yahoo will correct this issue. Until then, you may want to use a different quote server.
Thanks,
Mark

Yes, I have the same issue with one of my mutual funds (PAUDX). It appears, in my case, that PIMCO was late in issuing the NAV. With other quote severs, the price is "correct". However, when I check the price in my account at Fidelity, it shows the price that Yahoo! is showing. I'm going with the "future" one from Yahoo! since it agrees with Fidelity.
