Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby bobness » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:58 am

Is it possible to tell Fund Manager to only reinvest whole shares from dividends? eg: if a stock pays a total dividend of $200.00 and is reinvested for a share value of $45. ea, FM records it as 4.44 new shares. Whereas, my investment manager only purchases whole share - in this case 4 shares and the balance goes into a cash acct.

THanks

Hi Bob,

How are you recording this reinvestment? Are you retrieving from your broker, entering manually, or maybe retrieving from Yahoo (Historical)?

1) Retrieving from Broker: Your broker should report this as it happened, and it will come in that way.

2) Manual entry: Just record it as a $200 non-reinvested distribution, and a separate purchase of 4 shares.

3) Yahoo (Historical) Retrieve: You would have to choose the "Distributed" option for retrieving, and then manually record the purchase of 4 shares. There is no option to automatically only reinvest an integral number of shares.
Thanks,
Mark
