Cash account transaction type

Hi Mark,

Am a new client and have imported data as well as manually entered some old data.

Questions:

1. For one of the cash accounts, I have manually entered the data.
For interest income, I have entered it as a Buy. What I would like
to do is to change that to a reinv_i (reinvested income). In the import
function, one can specify the transaction type but I can't seem to find
how to do this manually. The dividend distribution would probably be
the only to do this - is this the case?

2. In another post, a question was raised regarding moving an
investment file to another portfolio. You indicated using a save as ..
method. Can I just use the mouse to move it without going thru the
save as.. method? It appears to allow me but I am not sure about the
links going forward.

Hi mfmelb,

1) You can change a buy to a reinvested interest income distribution in the Data Register. You can't actually change this transaction directly, you must delete the buy, and enter a new reinvested interest income distribution. From within the Data Register, under the "Investments (all)" data type, find your buy, and select "Delete". Change the data type to "Distributions (all)" and enter "New..." and fill in the appropriate details.

2) I didn't go read the other question you had, but if you just want to move an investment from one sub-portfolio to another you would not use "File / Save Investment As...". that is for renaming an investment file. To move between sub-portfolios, yes, you can just drag/drop within the Portfolio Editor.
