Batch Printing and Client Management

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby stevetone » Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:54 am

Is it recommended (or required) to have subportfolios for each client within a master portfolio in order to do batch printing?

It seems that when I try batch printing only the currently open portfolio file is available.

My question can be expanded to a general one--does the software expect to have all client portfolios as subportfolios under a master portfolio? Does this impact other areas of FM operation?

Thanks for your (anyone's) help). I am evaluating FM for potential use by my small financial planning/investment management firm.

Hi Steve,

Yes, the batch printing only prints from within the currently open portfolio file. The intended operation is that you just have one portfolio file, with sub-portfolios for each client. This way, you have everything open/accessible. You can report at your whole practice level, any client's level, or any account level. For a picture of the usual hierarchy, see:

Advisor Sub-Portfolio Hierarchy Example

You must also define your clients under "Edit / Client List...". You can assign each one to a particular sub-portfolio. Then, when you do batch printing, you will be given a list of all your clients, and can choose which ones you want to print.

You can also press the "Help" button from within the batch printing dialog for some more specific help.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the quick reply. I have converted all individual portfolios to sub-portfolios.
