Capital Gains report for investments with mixed currency

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby glenm » Thu May 08, 2008 6:34 pm

The default currency for my account is Canadian Dollars, and I use and exchange rate investment to convert between US and Canadian dollars. A number of Canadian stocks are dual listed, and trade on the NYSE in US dollars, and on the Toronto Exchange in Canadian dollars. Is there any way that Fund Manager can compute capital gains in Canadian dollars, when one side of the trade has been done on the NYSE in US dollars, and the other side of the trade was on a Canadian exchange in Canadian dollars.

Thanks for your help,

Glen

Hi Glen,

A single investment can only be assigned to a single currency. You cannot do transactions in different currencies within the same investment. All transactions and prices within an investment should be recorded in the one assigned currency for that investment.
Thanks,
Mark
