Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby AssetHound » Wed Oct 10, 2012 1:44 pm

At the end of each day, I want to manually add the net total trading income for that day to my cash account (as I keep detailed trading records for tax purposes and tax form printing using other software). I decided to add that as a ST Cap Gain distribution (not reinvested) to the cash account thinking that it would just flow into my cash balance.

It didn't update my cash balance today. Is there a lag between when the distribution is added and the totals are updated? Or, do I have to make all of these reinvestments? I can't seem to figure this out.

I have three cash accounts in a separate sub-portfolio. There is no designation for a cash account for the sub-portfolio, however.

Hi AssetHound,

To increase your cash, you need to add more shares. By recording a distribution that isn't reinvested in your cash account it looks like your cash investment paid out that much money. To increase your shares, you need to either mark the distribution as reinvested, and purchase the same number of shares as the value (price equals 1), or record this as a buy transaction instead.
Thanks,
Mark
