Name or Symbol?

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi,

When I enter an investment, either an exchange rate or a stock. If I click on "Lookup", it seems that the system looks in Yahoo for a security using the "name" field of the investment and not the "symbol" field.

For example, I could not enter my first exchange rate the way it is indicated in the tutorial. If I enter "CAD->USD" as "name" and "UADCAD=X" as Symbol. When I click "lookup" Yahoo tells me that there is no "CAD->USD" symbol !!!

Same for example for "Garda World A" vs "GW.TO".

Thanks
tradewinder

Hi tradewinder,

The "Lookup..." button is searching by the "name" you enter. The purpose of the lookup button is to help you find the symbol. If you already know the symbol, do not press the Lookup... button, there is no need.
Thanks,
Mark
