Upgraded to 12.2, now can't find data

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby sncdoc » Tue Apr 30, 2013 12:43 pm

I just upgraded my FM personal 12.1 to 12.2 like I always have. I did not uninstall the old version since I wanted to retain my settings and data.

I installed it to the previous location (Program Files (x86)/Fund Manager). when it completed the installation, the program opened, as unregistered and showed no data, portfolios or any other data.

I have the registration information and full backups of my hard drive (from yesterday) and could retrieve the data if I knew where to look. I am running Windows 7, 64 bit, on an HP Pavilion laptop.

Where can I look for the data in my backups? Or if I can restore the old version, is there a way to upgrade without loosing the settings or data?

Hi Doug,

Sorry to hear about the troubles. Are you signed in as the same user as before? Were you running 12.1 okay before the upgrade?

You can store your data wherever you want, but the default location is "My Documents \ Fund Manager". I suspect your data is still there, but just didn't get opened again for some reason. Since it is unregistered now, it sounds like your registry preferences weren't read in, which is why I asked about the user, as those are stored on a per-user basis.

You might do a search of your computer for *.mm4, or simply look in the "My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder. Once you find it, use Fund Manager to do "File / Open Portfolio..." and go open the portfolio file.
Thanks,
Mark
