: : On my portfolio gain graph my portfolio shows a slight loss from 1/1/05 through 2/10/05. When I switch to the portfolio overlay graph, price + distribution, from 12/31/04 through 2/10/05 I find my portfolio ending at 100.02. Why does one graph show a loss and the other graph reports a gain?

: Hi Linda,

: A couple of ideas... Are you using the "Current" cost mode under "Graphs /
: Options / Historical Cost"? Also, if you've had some transactions
: within the date range of the graph, that will affect your current cost
: basis and gain. For example, if you sold something in the date range
: that would affect the hypothetical share price of the portfolio differently
: than it would affect the gain. The gain graph will ignore any gains/losses
: due to shares not owned on the ending graph date, where the hypothetical share
: price will include them.

: Thanks,
: Mark

For the portfolio gain graph I'm looking at "historical costs". Transactions have taken place withing the date range, but I would think each graph would take those tranactions into account. I still don't understand how one graph shows a loss and the other a gain. I sure the gain graph is correct where I have a small portfolio loss. Since I do have a loss then why would my portfolio in the overlay graph show 100.02? It seems like should be less than 100??
