Hi Mark, thank you this helps a lot - I couldn't find the "transferring to a new computer" link last night.
One more question...
is the default for file store the program files/fund manager/my_data directory? I only ask because there is only a samples directory. and an 8kb cats.dat file - is there a chance that my client's info ended up in the samples directory? Client isn't a power user and wouldn't have ever to thought to move the data yet it seems a mostly empty directory. Secondly, can I assume the autoback directory files are usable in this case?

I'll have to set up his preferences as the registery is long gone thanks to a Windows XP SP 2 upgrade, disaster.

thanks again,

~Andrew

: Hi Andrew,

: Fund Manager stores data to 2 types of files, investment files (*.dat) and
: portfolio files (*.mm4). You would want to restore all of these. It doesn't
: matter where they are located, but the relative location of the portfolio
: and investment files should stay the same. For example, if they were all in
: one directory before, then they should still all be in one directory on the
: new computer. To open a portfolio use "File / Open Portfolio..." and go pick
: the .mm4 file you want to open. If you just want to open some investments use
: "File / Open Investment(s)..." to go pick them. For some more tips on
: transferring Fund Manager to a new computer see:

: Thanks,
: Mark
