i tried reset the autoscale for one investment, save the port, then reopened the port right away and it was still set.

however, before doing that, when i first opened fm tonight, i noticed that the first investment (i didn't look at any others) was not set properly, and after updating prices it reset to autoscale. when i reopened the port, the investment was again set to a minimum, not autoscale. i set it to autoscale and saved, reopened and it was ok. so, i can't make it happen at will. it was after this that i tried changing it, as noted above.
