: Hello,
: Recently, I sold several mutual funds positions. Since I "dollar
: cost averaged" into these funds, the shares I sold fall into the long
: (>12 month) and short (<12 month) term categories for tax purposes.
: The FM Capital Gain Report (AVG method) does not appear to be calculating
: my gains correctly. For those shares held less than a year, the report
: frequently (but not in every case) lists a bought date of "NA", a sell
: value of $0.00, and cost bases and Gain/Losses of 0.00. The report is
: correctly indicating that the shares fall in the short term category.
: There are no problems with the calculations associated with the
: long-term shares. Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix the
: problem?

: Thanks,
: Sam C.

Hi Sam,
You might check to make sure you didn't sell more shares than you
owned, even a very small fraction of a share. You can turn up
the share display resolution to 6 digits, and make sure you never go
negative, that would prevent your short term values from being reported.

Thanks,
Mark
