I'm Trying to set an email alert but I get a warning telling me that MAPI can't be initialized.

I followed the directions from Microsoft but the "make default" button on the General tab is grey and un-responsive.

I use Outlook Express 5.00.2615.200 and it is the only email client on the machine.
