Y2K - cannot enter 1999 data

In attempting to enter transactions for Dec/23/1999 as mm/dd/yy, I am getting Dec/2099.
When I go to the calendar, today's date, then the previous month to get thedat,
I get 9/14/1752 as a result. I just downloaded the most recent version of Fund Manager
but I have not yet registered the upgrade (I was at 4.x).
Will registration fix this problem?
