: : : I am trying to determine the capital gains on several mutual funds sold in early January 2000 to estimate income taxes payable 4/15/2001.
: : : the cap gains reports list three types;
: : : Short Term
: : : Medium Term, and
: : : Long Term.

: : : I understand the Short Term and Long Term but not the Medium Term. This indicates that shares purchased less than 16 months prior to the sale are considered Medium. Why?

: : : Thanks in advance,
: : : Russ Eggleston

: : Russ,
: : Fund Manager has the ability to separate your capital gains into
: : 3 different holding periods, as you've described. The length of
: : time for these periods can be adjusted under "Options/Report Preferences/
: : Capital Gains". To not use the medium term category, specify this time period
: : to be greater than or equal to the long term period. You can press the
: : "Help" button from this screen to get a description of each term.

: : Thanks,
: : Mark

: Mark,
: Thanks for the quick answer. Only problem is I don't have "Options/Report Preferences/Capital Gains"
: I am running Ver. 4.5,217 and I have "Options/Preferences/Display or Data or yields or Toolbar or Menus or Other" none of these makes any reference to "Reports".
: Any other good ideas?

: Russ

Hi Russ,
Sorry, I should have been more specific. This command is only available
from within any report window. Create a report, and then you will see it
under the "Options" menu.

Thanks,
Mark
