I've messed with the settings options to change the decimal place, thinking this might address the problem but it doesn't. What follows is another illustration of what happens:

450 shares of stock purchased at $14.35964, with a commission of $10.99. Principle amount $6,461.84. Net amount $6,472.83.

Fund Manager insists on correcting this transaction with total shares purchased 442.04, rather than 450 shares, no matter what.

Must be doing something wrong.
