: Hi I downoaded the advisor version yesterday to try out and have a few questions right off.

: 1) is there some clever way to deal with account number changes such that you can end up with just the new account number with full history? Specific case is that TD Ameritrade just changed all their account numbers, so I have two account histories 501xxxxx that for example starts at 1/1/06 and runs to 5/20/07, and 901xxxxx0 (new number same account) that runs from 5/21/07 to present, would like to see the whole history end up in 901xxxxx0. Would be willing to jump throgh a few hoops to get this.

: 2) Is there a way to generate a securities cross reference - i.e., for each security, a list of all accounts that own some of it - this is a standard thing that gets requested when an advisor gets audited by the regulators.

: 3) What kind of luck have people had downloading 401k (or similar account - e.g., 403b) data in to FM - does this rarely work, sometimes, often, usually???

: Thanks.

Hi Nick,

1) I assume you're importing from TD Ameritrade *.TRN files? If so, just do the import in 2 steps. Import all your .TRN files up through 5/20/07, then change the account numbers, and import a second time after 5/20. (BTW, the information we were given said this conversion took place over the weekend of 5/12/2007?)

We released a special version of Fund Manager that will convert all these account numbers for you. You would want to use this after doing the first import. You can also modify the account numbers manually, but if you have a lot to do, this special version will help. See:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/TDAmeritrade_conversion.html

2) Yes, create a report, and list by "Investment", and click on the "Filter..." button, and filter by "Symbol", and pick the symbol you want to see. Only investments with this symbol will be listed.

3) It depends on the account. If the account is holding securities/funds that have a daily price, this usually works fine. Some 401k accounts have holdings that are only valued monthly or quarterly. In these cases you can track these investments like cash accounts, and just record their gains/losses monthly or quarterly.

Thanks,
Mark
