Even an investment that just needs to send dividends to a different account than the trading account is affected by this issue - different currencies aside

I suspect a very common scenario - and a solution would make a lot of investors and their accountants very happy!

: Thanks, I think I finally get it! :) I can see how if you have a single investment that has transactions in multiple currencies, there is no great solution. I wasn't aware this was very common. I'll have to give it some thought on how best to handle this, it isn't immediately obvious to me.

: The suggestion on using multiple investments was only if you had the same security in different accounts, where each account was traded in a different (but consistent) currency.
