Thanks Mark, for confirming I'm thinking right on using ROI yield. Now then...

For the actual fund, I have a couple YEARS' worth of blank, empty price/date combinations in the data file, before the date of my initial purchase. I think this occurred because some time ago I updated a bunch of files historically, and captured prices for dates when I didn't own the fund. I suspect the ROI yield calc is using the entire data set, including the empty dates on which I own zero shares. Right? If so, how do I either set the entire date range I want the ROI yield calculated for, OR delete a bunch of price/date data all at once, vs. one line at a time!? CTRL-click or SHIFT-click doesn't seem to let me select a bunch of contiguous lines of price data all at once, like some software does. I can delete it one line at a time, but is there a faster way?

: Hi Tom,

: I believe your thought process is correct, and the ROI yield is the appropriate figure to compare against the loan interest rate. The ROI yield is showing how well your invested money performed, in terms of an annualized yield. I am not sure how the 5.5% HELOC rate is calculated, but I can tell you that the Fund Manager yields are true yields. (See the online help for the equations used.) The ROI yields factor in all the distributions, and any appreciation through share price increases. If you timed the market well by purchasing at low times, then your ROI would be higher.

: The "Fund Performance" yields on the other hand only look at the performance of the underlying investment. These yields ignore when and how you invested in that investment. Your market timing doesn't affect the Fund Performance yields.

: Thanks,

: Mark
