: Thanks Mark, for confirming I'm thinking right on using ROI yield. Now then...

: For the actual fund, I have a couple YEARS' worth of blank, empty price/date combinations in the data file, before the date of my initial purchase. I think this occurred because some time ago I updated a bunch of files historically, and captured prices for dates when I didn't own the fund. I suspect the ROI yield calc is using the entire data set, including the empty dates on which I own zero shares. Right? If so, how do I either set the entire date range I want the ROI yield calculated for, OR delete a bunch of price/date data all at once, vs. one line at a time!? CTRL-click or SHIFT-click doesn't seem to let me select a bunch of contiguous lines of price data all at once, like some software does. I can delete it one line at a time, but is there a faster way?

Hi Tom,

Time periods where you owned zero shares are neutral towards the ROI figures. If you want to make sure an ROI yield is not reported when the yield period starts before your first purchase turn off "Allow interpolation prior to earliest recorded data" in the "Yield Interpolation Range" dialog. You can set the yield term you want in a variety of places, but one easy way is to create a custom report with the "ROI Yield (between)" field, and then set the date range on your report to cover the time period you're interested in.

Deleting those extra prices really isn't necessary, but if you want to, you can do it from the Graphs window. Graph the investment you want to delete prices for, and choose the menu command "Edit / Delete Price / Date Range - Top Investment...".

Thanks,
Mark
