: When I saw the message about the new V7.7 I noticed the line;

: New options to have Fund Manager be the default application associated with .OFX and .QFX files. See "Options / Preferences... / Other". Makes downloading and importing such files more convenient.

: And I thought to myself, "Since this is an option I do not have to worry about it breaking my current .QFX settings." WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS "OPTION" WAS ON BY DEFAULT!!! HOW DO I QUICKLY RESTORE WHAT MY OLD .QFX SETTING WAS WITHOUT HAVING TO RE-INSTALL MY SOFTWARE?????????????

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the trouble this has caused you. These options were turned on by default as a convenience, but I can see this not always being a good thing. In the future we'll change this so that they will only be on by default if you do not already have an application assigned to these file extensions. That does seem to be a safer way to go.

To reset your .QFX extension you can either do it manually with Windows Explorer or many programs will do it for you. To do it manually, just open up Windows Explorer and go to "Tools / Folder Options... / File Types" and select the extension and then click "Change..." to pick the program you want to use.

If you are associating this with Quicken you can just let Quicken do it for you. Most versions will check at startup, and ask if you'd like to re-assign Quicken to be the default handler.

Thanks,
Mark
