Thanks for giving Fund Manager a try.

1) It sounds like your QIF file does not have a security list in it. When you export from Quicken choose to export "Transactions", "Account List", and "Security List". If you only export transactions, there is no symbol information provided, so Fund Manager will re-use the Name field for symbol, since that is all it has available. When you export with Security List the symbol information is then included in the QIF file, assuming it is entered in Quicken.

2) If you do the retrieve with the option "Skip Transactions Already In Fund Manager" turned OFF, does that allow all of your 5 sells and 5 buys to show up?

Please also make sure you are using version 7.8, which is the most recent version currently. You can check this under "Help / About...".
