: Have IE 7.0.5730.11IS installed but use Firefox 2.0. I also tried turning off my firewall, ZoneAlarm Pro 6.5.737.000. Same result of no data and the error -- "WinInet error code 12002 – The operation timed out”. Beside I would hate to turn off my firewall on a regular basis just to download date!!!

: Any ideas?

: Thanks.

Hi Jim,

I've done some research, and it appears that IE7 has changed the default timeout settings in the Wininet module (which Fund Manager uses) from 5 minutes to 30 seconds. Fund Manager just uses the default timeout values, and they aren't user-adjustable from within Fund Manager. We'll plan on adding this capability. In the mean time, it appears you can override the default timeout by making a registry entry. If you're comfortable with doing this, you can add a DWORD key called "ReceiveTimeout" at this registry location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

The value of this key specifies the timeout in milliseconds. To put the timeout back to 5 minutes, you would set ReceiveTimeout to:

300000

Apparently, you need to re-boot your computer for these changes to take effect. If you'd like to read about this, see:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q181050/

Also, if you'd like to send me an email, I can send you a pre-release version of Fund Manager with the capability of setting the timeouts.

Thanks,
Mark
