: Mark,

: I'm setting up an account with manual entry of transactions for 3 month's worth of data from year 2004, followed by automated (OFX) entry of the remainder of data to present, and have a couple of questions concerning proper proceedure. Not sure if it matters, but the OFX data is Ameritrade. Anyways:

: 1) How do I align a manually created money market account with the OFX demarcated money market data AFTER 3 months so that the two represent the same thing?

: 2) When this account was initiated, a large portion was transferred in the form of a single stock. I wish to record the basis at transfer as a TRANSFER as opposed to a purchase, but am not sure how to do that...

: Thank you for any assistance with these 2 matters.

Hi SS,

1) Just make sure the CUSIP is recorded, as provided by the OFX data feed. Also, mark your cash account as the default cash account in FM under the sub-portfolio properties. The CUSIP matching will ensure that interest distributions will go into the right cash investment. The marking this as a default cash account in FM will make sure that any money used/generated from other investments will automatically go into or come out of this default cash account. I would suggest doing the OFX retrieve first, and letting it create all your investments for you. This way, all the CUSIPs are entered properly. Then, you can go and add your older transactions manually.

2) There is no "transfer" transaction in FM, but you can record the purchase at any cost basis that you want, even $0.

Thanks,
Mark
