Dividend distribution

I tried to post a message a few minutes ago, but for some reason it doesn't show up...

How can I use historical information to do some analysis? Basically I would like to display the "Investment Overlay - Price + Dist" for a few stocks. What my $100 invested at a certain date in the past would be worth today if all dividends would have been re-invested? I can download historical price information, but how to account for dividends?
