: Sorry for the empty reply.

: I know how to create sub-portfolios, but they are empty of investments. I can cut and paste to the new sub-portfolios, but then I'm always tied to the open portfolio. What's the point of that?

: Maybe my question is, where is this thing called "Master Portfolio"?

Hi Tbone,

What do you mean by you're tied to the open portfolio? The "Mater Portfolio"
is just the top level portfolio, that contains all your other sub-portfolios.
If you open up the "Portfolio Editor", then this would be the portfolio at
the top of the hierarchy in the Portfolio Editor.

The benefit of using sub-portfolios is that you can now keep all your investments
and accounts in a single portfolio file (*.mm4). This gives you the flexibility to be
able to report on any/all portfolios. You can either report on an individual
sub-portfolio, or a higher level one, which includes all its sub-portfolios. You
can do anything you could have previously done with multiple portfolio files (*.mm4)
plus you can now see them at the same time. You don't have to use
sub-portfolios if you don't want. You can continue to use multiple portfolio
files (*.mm4) if you want to organize your investments that way.

Thanks,
Mark
