: I posted a message a while back about how long it takes to open portfolios. Well, I have some more info on this. I run FM on a laptop with a wifi card. If I remove the wifi card, FM opens portfolios quickly. But if I reinsert the wifi card, it takes much longer for a portfolio to open and it's obvious that something is being transmitted to the internet. As soon as the little transmit light goes out, the portfolio opens.

: I'm not paranoid, but it appears someone is scanning my portfolios when I open them. Tell us, Mark, that it's not you. Or do you have any other ideas what's going on?

: BTW, I run McAffee virus checker and regularly scan for spyware using Spy Sweeper. The FM behaviour I'm describing isn't related to any of this.

Hi Chuck,

Fund Manager doesn't send any of your information anywhere. Fund Manager only accesses the internet when you do a price retrieve or a transaction retrieve, and this is to download information, not send anything out. We take your privacy very seriously, and Fund Manager does nothing nasty like this. It of course doesn't contain any spyware or adware. I really have no idea why having your wifi card installed or not would make any difference in the loading speed of your portfolio. Actually, here is one possibility... Do you have any investments in your portfolio that are loading from a network drive? You can create a "Custom" report and add the "Path and filename" field to look at the location of all your investments and the portfolio file itself. Make sure everything is coming off of a local hard drive. You can access investments off a network drive, but that would cause network traffic when you open your portfolio.

Thanks,
Mark
