: : Hello,
: : I'm using the beta 4.2.207 version and I can't figure out the Total Portfolio %Gain-I number.
: : The %Gain-I for each investment is right on the money but the combined number at the bottom
: : of the report is screwy by my calculations (total portfolio: end value + distributeddistributions
: : + redemptions - purchases/purchases). Any ideas why this number doesn't reflect total portfolio
: : gain. Does it have anything to do with the fact that cash has been put into the account and purchases
: : have been made throughout the history of the acct?

: How are you calculating these items? The purchases, redemptions, and dist
: distributions are the sum of all of these for all open investments. Another
: possibility is that you have some "hidden" investments...

From the Portfolio Performance report I take the following from the bottom line:
end value: 2394.19
invested 2368.34
so: 2394.19-2368.34/2368.34 = 1.4%

the bottom line on the report for %Gain-I is .7%
shouldn't these two numbers be equal?

: : In a possibly related question, why in the portfolio/investments overlay graph is the value of my
: : portfolio positive when I the actual value of the portfolio is negative with respect to the starting
: : balance? Does this have something to do with the "weighted average of the performance of each
: : investment"?

: I assume you mean the portfolio value has gone down since the start? The
: starting value for this graph may be higher than your actual money. You
: can adjust the starting hypothetical value for this graph under "Options/
: Preferences...".

I understand that the starting value may be higher than my actual money, but if
my total gain is negative and I use a starting value of 10000 for the graph,
shouldn't the ending value for the graph be below 10000. For a specific time
period, my total percent gain was -4.01. For the same time period (with original
value set at 100), the graph showed a porfolio value of 99.82, not the 95.99
value I would have expected if this graph was plotting total gain. Also, what
is the number in parentheses to the right of what I am assuming is total end
value.
Once again, thanks very much for your input.

: : Thanks to anyone who might be able to cast light on this stuff.
: : Jeff

: Thanks,
: Mark
