: I am trying to determine the capital gains on several mutual funds sold in early January 2000 to estimate income taxes payable 4/15/2001.
: the cap gains reports list three types;
: Short Term
: Medium Term, and
: Long Term.

: I understand the Short Term and Long Term but not the Medium Term. This indicates that shares purchased less than 16 months prior to the sale are considered Medium. Why?

: Thanks in advance,

Russ,
Fund Manager has the ability to separate your capital gains into
3 different holding periods, as you've described. The length of
time for these periods can be adjusted under "Options/Report Preferences/
Capital Gains". To not use the medium term category, specify this time period
to be greater than or equal to the long term period. You can press the
"Help" button from this screen to get a description of each term.

Thanks,
Mark
