Here are the figures for DJIA: Newspaper: I also checked my data against finance.yahoo.com and it matches.
: : I have a portfolio named Indices in which I track the daily closing values of DJIA, S&P 500, etc. I noticed in the newspaper this morning these 12-month percent change figures: : : DJIA +6.20 : : But Fund Manager reports on the main screen these 1y figures: : : DJIA +7.83 : : As DJIA closed on 12/30/05 at 10717.50 and is now at 11381.47, it would seem the correct percentage gain is 6.19519%. Do I have a setting off somewhere? I've also noticed the performance percentages for the funds I track are higher than those reported by the fund company. : : It sounds like the problem may be the date ranges being looked at are different. If you're looking at the "1y" figure above a graph that is covering a 1 year period, ending on the ending graph date. So, if your graph date ends 8/19/2006, this would cover 8/20/05 - 8/19/06. Notice, this is not the same as 12/30/05 to 8/19/06. Maybe the paper was reporting a YTD (Year To Date) figure, and not a 1 year figure? : Thanks,
