Transferring Pre-9.x Fund Manager To A New Computer

If you are using Fund Manager 12.0 or later, use the new version instructions instead.

If you are using a version of Fund Manager earlier than 9.0, the transfer instructions are different.  Start by downloading your version, and running the installation program on your new computer.  Next, you will need to manually copy over all of your investment (*.dat) and portfolio (*.mm4) files.

When transferring your portfolio (*.mm4) and investment (*.dat) files, keep in mind that portfolios reference their contained investments in a relative manner.  This means that you can move them to a new location, but portfolios and investments should stay in the same relative location to each other.

If you are using the Advisor version, you can copy your client database by copying the file:

My Documents\Fund Manager\clientdb.fmc

Fund Manager stores many of your preferences in the registry.  These preferences include things like memorized reports and your category labels.  You can transfer these preferences using the "regedit" tool.  You can use "regedit" to export the following registry key to a registration file (*.reg):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager

and then use "regedit" on your new computer to import that exported registry file.  To start "regedit" just use "Start / Run..." from your Windows Desktop and type in "regedit" (without the double quotes).  It is important to run the Fund Manager installation program after importing this registration file.
