i just purchased a stock which is only listed on toronto exchange. all the quotes (eg yahoo)are shown in canadian dollars. when i update prices they are in canadian dollars. yet the purchase was in u.s. dollars, through a u.s. broker. the record keeping is screwed up because of this. if i enter the purchase showing the number of shares and amount in u.s$ then the graph and reports are showing a large gain when none exists since the can$ quoted price is higher. if i enter the transaction using can$ then it shows as too many us$ coming out of acct or wrong number of shares. how do i deal with this situation? ( i have read the info on currency several times, but am not getting any answers from it). can i enter the transaction in us$ and have it automatically converted so the graph shows can$? or is there a better way to do this?
